Is the sidebar free?

Yes, in every plan including Free. Pro adds Auto Edit, Audio AI and the downloader.

Can I choose which buttons show?

Yes. Settings lets you hide tools and reorder the sidebar.

Does it work in a small dock?

That is the point. The panel switches to the icon strip automatically when docked narrow.
